Izmir's Gimas to increase exports by building new factory in Malta

Operating from its 80,000-square-meter facility in the İzmir Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone, Gimas A.Ş manufactures components for wind turbines, cement factories, hydroelectric power plants, and other industrial facilities, serving markets around the world. The company is preparing for significant growth in 2025. Amid global trade wars and increasing tariffs imposed by major economies that continue to disrupt market balances, Gimas is steadily advancing toward becoming a key global player in its sector. While pursuing its growth journey, the company also plans to activate new overseas investments within this year.

€10 Million for Modernization Investments
In addition to establishing a new facility in Malta, Gimas is continuing renovation and expansion efforts at its İzmir plant. Bekir Girgin, Chairman of the Board at Gimas A.Ş, emphasized that the company produces for a wide range of sectors—particularly energy—and is growing confidently through the power of high value-added manufacturing.

Girgin pointed out the rapid evolution of both production methods and technology in today’s world:
“If you don’t enter a continuous cycle of renewal, you can quickly fall behind your competitors and lose market share. With this in mind, we are modernizing both our technologies and our machinery. In 2025, we are investing approximately €10 million in modernization,” he said.

New Facility in Malta
In addition to the modernization projects, Girgin stated that construction is underway for a new factory in Malta:
“This investment will enable us, as an export-oriented company, to manufacture abroad and further strengthen our position in international markets,” he said.
He explained that the new plant—under construction on a 10,000-square-meter site—is expected to begin operations by mid-2025.
“At our Malta facility, we plan to focus on manufacturing parts for the renewable energy sector. Located just 800 meters from the port and in close proximity to the airport, this factory will significantly enhance our competitiveness in the global market once it becomes operational,” Girgin added.
