Gimas to increase exports by 20 percent

After increasing its international sales to $30 million last year, Gimas is targeting a 20% boost in exports this year, driven by recent modernization investments and the opening of a new warehouse in Germany.

Gimas A.Ş, which operates out of an 80,000-square-meter factory in İzmir’s Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone, produces components for wind turbines, cement factories, hydroelectric plants, and other facilities. The company is preparing for major growth moves in 2025. At a time when global trade wars are disrupting markets and key economies are consistently raising customs tariffs, Gimas continues its upward trajectory while also preparing to activate its international investments within the year.

While construction of a new facility in Malta is underway, the company is also focused on upgrading and expanding its İzmir operations. Bekir Girgin, Chairman of the Board at Gimas A.Ş, emphasized that they produce for a wide range of industries, particularly the energy sector, and that they are growing confidently through the strength of high value-added manufacturing.

Girgin stated that both production methods and related technologies are evolving rapidly:
“If you don’t enter a continuous cycle of renewal, you can quickly fall behind competitors and lose market share. With this mindset, we’re updating both our technologies and machinery. In 2025, we’re investing approximately €10 million in modernization,” he said.

New Facility in Malta
In addition to these upgrades, Girgin shared that construction of a new factory in Malta is also in progress:
“This investment will allow us, as an export-oriented company, to manufacture abroad as well, further strengthening our export capabilities.”
The facility, being built on a 10,000-square-meter site, is expected to begin production by mid-2025. “We aim to produce components primarily for the renewable energy sector at our Malta plant. Strategically located just 800 meters from the port and close to the airport, this facility will enable us to operate more efficiently in global markets,” he added.

20% Export Growth Target
Girgin also noted that a liaison office and warehouse have been established in Germany:
“With both of these investments, we’ll be even closer to our target markets. We closed 2024 with $30 million in exports, and in 2025 we aim to grow by at least 20%,” he said.

He concluded by emphasizing that green energy sources are no longer the future—they are the present. Gimas is not only active in wind energy, but also working on projects in biomass and hydrogen energy.
