Gimas to commission its €10 million plant in Malta this year
Gimas Makine General Manager Can Yarangümelioğlu stated that the decision to invest in Malta is directly linked to the European Union’s investment incentive policies in the country. He noted that they aim to launch production at the new mass production facility, which will cover an area of 10,000 square meters, by the end of this year.
Gimas Makine, which manufactures machinery and machine parts for various industries—primarily the energy sector—at its 80,000-square-meter facility in the İzmir Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone, plans to commission its new production plant in Malta by the end of the year.
“We continuously modernize our production technology through annual investments,” said Yarangümelioğlu. “Our investment in Malta is directly associated with the EU's incentive policies. The invitation to invest came directly from Malta. After a series of discussions, we decided to proceed with the investment. Since starting the project in 2024, we have invested €8 million so far, and this figure will reach €10 million. We aim to begin mass production at our 10,000-square-meter facility by the end of 2025.”
Highlighting that they continue to grow each year through new investments, Yarangümelioğlu added: “Most recently, we invested €5 million in new machinery. We are currently exporting to 20 countries with more than 50 production benches. In addition to cement mills, we now manufacture products that reduce carbon emissions, as well as components for wind turbines and hydroelectric power plants. Today, 40% of our total production is dedicated solely to renewable energy products.”
“Our goal is to increase sales by 30%”
Yarangümelioğlu emphasized that they are accelerating machinery investments to increase production capacity and boost efficiency:
“We are constantly renewing our existing machines and upgrading our production technologies. The latest €5 million machinery investment is part of our transition to more efficient systems that require less human labor. Gimas ranks among the top three companies globally in its sector. Last year, we achieved €30 million in exports and reached over 20 countries. For 2025, we aim to increase our sales by 30%, and all our efforts are aligned with that goal. We place great importance on R&D and innovation—many of our products are the result of 4 to 5 years of development before reaching customers. Every industrial manufacturer in Türkiye must contribute to domestic production of intermediate goods. Reducing foreign dependency is a shared responsibility.”
Yarangümelioğlu also noted that Gimas has established a liaison office and warehouse in Germany, adding that 30% of the company’s total exports are made to the German market.
